Be part of something life changing
Join our community of 200+ volunteers giving children across Oceania a chance at a healthy, happy life.
No matter your background or available time, there's a volunteer role that fits. Explore the options below and find where you can make the biggest difference.

Surgeons, nurses and allied health professionals provide life saving treatment. Volunteer through your hospital or offer consultations to assess patient needs.

Open your home to a child and their carer during treatment. You'll help provide accommodation, meals and support during their recovery journey.

Rotary clubs coordinate patient activities and transport, connect with host families and raise funds. Your club can become a hosting partner.

Help with fundraising events, patient transport, administrative tasks or awareness campaigns. Every contribution, big or small, makes a real impact.
Every child we help gets there because volunteers like you make it happen.
Since 1988, our entirely volunteer-run model means 100% of every dollar goes directly to patient care. No salaries, no administrative costs - just people who believe every child deserves a chance at a healthy life.

Host families provide a safe, welcoming home for a child and their carer during treatment. It's a meaningful way to be part of a child's healing journey.
We know opening your home is a big commitment. Here's what you can expect when you volunteer as a host family, from arrival to the support we provide throughout their stay.
The child will usually be under 15 years of age and will always be accompanied by their carer. To ensure a child-safe environment, all adult hosts need a Working with Children certification.
The ROMAC patient and carer will need to stay for a week to a few months, depending on the nature of their surgery. You will provide accommodation and meals during the stay.
To help with the cost of hosting, a daily allowance can be paid. ROMAC will arrange another host if you need a break or a change.
When the patient is in hospital, their carer will usually stay with them. When discharged, the child will not be bedridden and their carer will have responsibility for supervising recovery.
Hosts are never alone. Your ROMAC Regional team will be the main point of liaison between the hospital and treating doctor to ensure appointments are kept and will arrange additional clothing and pharmacy items. ROMAC may also arrange for local islander communities to provide social support and translation.
Hosting clubs coordinate aspects of a child's treatment journey, from arrival to departure. It's a leadership role that brings your community together for an incredible cause.
Your club will work with medical professionals, host families and our team to ensure everything runs smoothly. Here's what's involved.
Hosting a ROMAC patient is a very rewarding and heart-warming experience. It won't be long before this child and parent or guardian, with whom you have recently bonded, will have a special place in your heart, as your Club takes their journey to health with them.
