Families connect at Brisbane Airport

Mothers of patients from two different countries met recently as one headed home through Brisbane Airport following treatment.

Siblings Melanie and Anis, with their mother Lisa, were bound for Vanuatu after surgery and treatment in Canberra to correct bilateral talipes (club feet on both legs).

Rae from ROMAC’s Northern Region was on hand with Mase from Solomon Islands, mother of Xinyue currently in Brisbane for a lengthy treatment through ROMAC.

The new ROMAC-inspired friends from different countries are pictured above — Mase (left rear) and Lisa, with Anis and Melanie in the foreground. They two had never met before and their only connection was that both had children being treated under ROMAC’s care.

Mase helps out Anis in his wheelchair while Lisa looks out for Melanie at Brisbane Airport.

Mase enjoyed the experience and the pause in daily routine at Queensland Children's Hospital. Xinyue is back to 10ml intake and feeding through a tube. Another procedure (serial dilations) is due later this month.

It is great to see fellow ROMAC families connect.
